Finally, dorkbot is coming to Shanghai! With electricity as the focal point; artists, hackers, engineers, inventors, DIY enthusiasts, and people just like you, regularly meet at dorkbot events in over 85 cities around the world to exchange ideas in casual surroundings. The first dorkbot event in Shanghai will be held on 13 December 2009. The trusted motto of dorkbot worldwide is ”people doing strange things with electricity.”

There will be three key speakers for dorkbot Shanghai #1.

1. Isaac Leung is an artist based in Hong Kong & United States. He is currently a PhD candidate of the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong, and a board member of Videotage, a media art collective in Hong Kong. Isaac will talk about the research findings of his MPhil thesis “Queering sex machines: the re-articulation of non-normative sexualities and technosexual bodies.”

2. Ingrid Fischer-Schreiber 殷歌丽 (Austria) is a translator, editor, and project manager with a focus on China, working amongst others for Ars Electronica and basis wien. Ingrid will introduce the Prix Ars Electronica which is one of the most important yearly prizes at the intersection of art, technology and society.

3. Thomas Charvériat is the director and founder of Montcada5 in Barcelona and island6 Arts Center in Shanghai, two non-profit projects dedicated to the support of emerging artists. Thomas also directs island6Lab (Liu Dao 六岛), a research group including young talents, engineers and volunteers dedicated to the development of a technological platform for the future benefit of the artist community.

上海首次dorkbot活动将会有三位主讲人。

1. Isaac Leung是一个身在香港和美国的艺术家，香港城市大学创意媒体学院的博士生以及Videotage（一个香港媒体艺术团体）的董事会成员。Isaac将会谈论他硕士毕业论文的研究结果“酷异的性玩具：非标准化性征和无性别躯体的重新组合”

2.殷歌丽（奥地利）是一位翻译家和编辑。同时也是一个中国项目的管理人，她和很多人一起在维也纳为Ars Electronica电子艺术大奖工作。殷歌丽将会介绍有关电子艺术大奖（一个涉及艺术，科技和社会的年度重要奖项）

3. Thomas Charvériat是巴塞罗那Montcada5和上海island6 Arts Center（两个致力于支持新锐艺术家的项目）的负责人和创始人。Thomas同时也管理island6Lab 六岛；它是包括青年的人才，工程师，志愿者在内，一个致力于发展艺术家群体未来福利的技术平台。
