Airshow, Chinese Style

See here for pictures of a tiny (for a change) and seemingly nice airport in Laiwu, Shandong province. They local aeroclub/government have organized an air show which I'd like to visit, as it doesn't look bad at all, from September 25th to Sept 29th. If there are aviation nuts out there that want to attend, please do get in touch. So, without further ado, to the images (and a video which, for some reason, I can't embed - check it out on the source link here).

You will surely appreciate, as I do, how the aiport seem to have been build on purpose as an air show platform, with its natural seating area, gently sloped upwards all alongside the runway. And, for all I know, it might have been. One of the things to file under the fat label of "only in China"?

And, between the many russian Sukhoi, Yak and Antonov, here's the picture of two Italian light sport aircrafts (also sold as ultralights), made by Tecnam, a reputable manufacturer whose history dates back to the late 40ies. More on them soon, I hope.

For big, Le Bourget/Farnborough style kind of air shows i.e. with airliners, defense firms and such, check "The Airshow" in Zhuhai, opposite of Macau, on the mainland. The Zhuhai Airshow is still small compared to those behemoths but it's quickly gaining importance for it's the airshow at which Chinese firms like to display their own products first.
